Job Overview
The assistant buyer is an entry-level position that provides analytical, operational, and clerical support to management for the purchase of new inventory. They are responsible for planning, selecting and purchasing quantities of goods and merchandise that are sold in the store.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Monitor the store’s inventory
- Research market trends
- Advise management on new inventory items
Occasional duties:
- Take inventory
- Work conventions/trade shows etc.
Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Commercial acumen and a passion for the sector and its products
- An understanding of what motivates customers to buy individual products
- Confidence combined with negotiating, influencing and networking skills
- Creativity and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to make major decisions
- Customer focus
- Teamworking and leadership skills
- Numeracy and IT skills.
Compensation
The starting salary is $XXX per hour and is paid on a bi-weekly basis. Direct deposit is available.
