Assistant Store Manager Job Description

Job Overview

The Assistant Store Manager works with the store manager to organize, plan and implement strategies. They also support the store manager in the daily business operations of the store including training and supervising employees, interacting with customers, managing inventory levels and handling any other task assigned by the store manager.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Deliver high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Assisting the store manager in all areas of daily business operations, human resources, customer service and merchandising.
  • Coordinating, monitoring and reporting on daily operations.
  • Recruiting, training and supervising employees
  • Managing employee schedules, conducting performance reviews and enforcing disciplinary actions.
  • Monitoring and maintaining suitable store inventory levels.
  • Assisting with the development of new sales and recruitment strategies.
  • Ensuring the store environment complies with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized and aesthetically pleasing store front.
  • Resolving customer complaints and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that store policies and procedures are followed.
  • Develop and arrange promotional material and in-store displays.
  • Process orders and get ready for shipment
  • Check vault to make sure sufficient change is on hand.  If not sufficient, make change order to bank.
  • Make sure bathrooms are cleaned, sales floor is swept and washed, windows/display cabinets are wiped down and trash cans are emptied daily
  • Receive new merchandise per procedures, enter to inventory system, place in warehouse and apply price labels
  • Prep store for events.  Ensure prizing is ready/plentiful.
  • Make sure signage is straight and in place
  • Disinfect at the end of every day

Skills and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • 1+ year of team lead experience or 2+ years of retail experience.
  • Experience in training and managing a team.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Good math skills.
  • Attention to detail.

Compensation
The starting salary is $XXX/year and is paid on a bi-weekly basis.  Direct deposit is available.
