Expectations of an assistant store manager are that he/she will assume the following duties in the absence of the store manager. Otherwise, the two will work in conjunction with one another to complete the following duties.
On a daily basis, these items need to be accomplished.
- Prepare registers for daily activity by 10:45am
- Prepare change order (if necessary) by 10:45am
- Prepare bank deposit (if necessary) by 10:45am
- Process overnight orders
- Ensure bathrooms are stocked and ready for use by 10:45am
- Ensure gaming area is ready for use by 10:45am (chairs down, floor swept/mopped, etc)
- Process orders as they come in during the day (pro tip: check hourly)
- Prepare/organize daily events (get out promos, product, signage, etc)
- Inform shift leads and assistant manager of events, problems, projects, tasks to be completed for their shift
- Assign tasks to staff
- Monitor inventory levels
- Restock shelves
- Receive merchandise
- Clean bathrooms three times per day
- Bathrooms swept and mopped
- Disinfect frequently touched surfaces at the end of the day
- Spot sweep/mop throughout the day
- Empty trash cans
- Process returns and exchanges according to store policy
- Run the register (as needed)
- Run events (as needed)
- Review card purchases from the prior day.
- Scan log books at the register for new entries and follow up as required.
- Create pickups for UPS/FedEx (if necessary)
- Ensure staff are wearing at least one of the following on their shift: branded shirt, branded lanyard, name tag
- Enforce store policies
On a weekly basis, these items need to be accomplished.
- Meet with Amy and/or Herb to discuss upcoming events, releases, projects etc
- Tuesday, before you go home for the day, remove the lock from the dumpster
- Wednesday, before you go home for the day, put the lock back on the dumpster, if it has been emptied.
- Review special orders and add to restock report
- Review game table requests and check against schedule book and event calendar
- Review new event requests from employees
- Schedule interviews with prospective employees (if necessary)
- Communicate store updates and new information to employees
- Collaborate with other supervisory staff to maximize efficiency
- Fill out table schedule book
- Create and maintain the bathroom cleaning schedule
- Check food items for expiration date; remove expired items when store is not open
- Create a restock report of items we are running low on (include requested restock levels) and give to Amy/Herb
- Create schedule for employees, give to Amy for approval and implementation.
- Create item entries in Shopify, according to store policies and procedures, for new items
- Keep track of how many promos are being used for each event
- Update/create displays for new and current merchandise
- Clean windows and front door (inside and outside)
- Dust merchandise and fixtures
- Sales floor mopped (completed either before or after hours)
- Stock room swept
- Offices and break room swept
- Break room mopped
- Break room cleaned
On a monthly basis, these items need to be accomplished.
- Prepare a list of items to be discussed at the monthly staff meeting
- Prepare a training schedule for new/current employees
- Stock check of Asmodee top 40 games by the 15th (list will be provided by rep)
- Stock check of Games Workshop base items by the 15th (list will be provided by rep)
- Create a new item report of games etc. that have been requested or are coming out soon and give to Amy/Herb. Include anticipated inventory levels and initial order amount.
- Set up regular meetings with staff members to discuss progress, training, goals, etc.
- Create an inventory schedule. Rotate areas of the store to be counted.
- Rotate game table mats
- Check lost and found. Items left for 30+ days become store property.
- Stock room mopped (completed either before or after hours)
- Offices mopped (completed either before or after hours)
